New lock monitoring display for Extendor® Grilles

A new lock monitoring indicator display has been added to the options offered on the Extendor® range of retractable security grilles by UK manufacturer Professional Barrier Systems Ltd.

When the grille is locked a green light is displayed on a panel set into the top of the grille frame. With the grille unlocked a red light shows.

Alternatively, the lock indicator can be wired into a central control system so that security staff can see the status of the grille at all times. If required, the display can be fitted to both the grille frame and the central control system, enabling both patrol staff and control room staff to check the status of the grille.

This innovation from PBS means that for the first time retractable grilles can be fully integrated with electronic systems, eliminating the possibility of a grille being closed but unintentionally left unlocked.

PBS were able to develop this light indicator display because of the unique lock system that has been designed for Extendor® grilles. It means that even extensive Extendor grille systems, with numerous locking points, can be checked at a glance.

Peter Donald, managing director of PBS says, “Many of the developments on our Extendor® grilles have been the result of listening to our customers and finding ways to meet their needs. By working closely together we have been able to rapidly advance the functionality and security properties of our grilles, making them an integral part of modern security systems.”

Successful Government Tests for Extendor® Eclipse Grilles

Extendor® security grilles are the only grilles to have been successfully tested to British Government specifications. The Eclipse grille is the newest addition to the range from Professional Barrier Systems and means that the company can now offer a wider range of security options to suit all budgets.

The unrivalled strength of the Eclipse has been achieved through innovative design, which has incorporated modern materials and manufacturing techniques whilst maintaining the quality aesthetic finish for which Extendor® is renowned. Successful bomb blast test have demonstrated that the Eclipse has the ability to absorb the force of glass treated with anti-shatter film and remain fully functional. It also contributes to minimising the risk of injury from glass panels treated with ASF.

The lock open facility of the Eclipse reduces the risk of hostage entrapment in the event of a serious security breach, a feature strongly recommended by security specialists. Extendor® Eclipse is a modern product designed to meet present-day security needs.

Since it was established in 1994, Professional Barrier Systems has led the way in improving the design and manufacturing quality of security grilles for an extensive range of market sectors, including Government, MOD, and organisations in the national critical infrastructure.

The Extendor® range of products has been designed to provide an effective security barrier but at the same time blend into the overall appearance of the buildings they are protecting. They require no maintenance and are simple to operate.

Area and server protection

Professional Barrier Systems has also developed a cost effective method of creating high security areas within existing server rooms, warehouses or offices. High value servers, sensitive data and confidential documents can be protected within a specially designed Extendor® cage system.

With access restricted to authorised personnel the cage provides a high security area in a work environment or protection for individual servers or groups of servers within a server room. The secured items are visible at all times. The cage allows unrestricted airflow to maintain temperature and humidity control and, unlike enclosed cabinets, does not inhibit fire detection and suppression systems.

Installation is rapid and no fabrication is required on site. Installation can be carried out around live servers.

The area and server protection systems have been tested by Government to the same standards as the Eclipse grille.
